A few more Photos from 2004
Thought I should upload a few more photos including an artist drawing of the Cottage in addition to a few more of the early stages including the beautiful ferry that I happened to get on during a big river fog roll early on a September morning. Last year a number of neighbours and friends wanted to have a contest to name the new Cottage. Maureen and Art suggested I should put a large cross on the roof and call it the "Chapel on the River". Perhaps we should just call it the Viking Chalet as a namesake to my Norsk ancestors.

Summer of 2004 - Framing of the Chalet
Starting June 22, brother John (Master Carpenter) and I worked two weeks getting the subfloor, walls and loft in place. Last 10 days with the extraordinary help of brother-in-law Rob MacKinnon and hired causal labour, we managed to get it enclosed and the steel roof on. In September Mac and I finished all the interior walls.
In March 2005, I was able to contract with English Homes from Nerpis, NB to finish the interior and exterior by the end of June 2005. Small Electric and Titus plumbing have since been contract to complete the plumbing and electrical by 2nd - 3rd week of April after which Dave English can start and finish the exterior siding, soffit, install the remaining windows and then insulate, drywall, tape, paint, building stairs and install baseboards, door and window casings plus hand rails on the loft and stairs.
All material is being supplied by Kent Building Supplies from Saint John. Jon McPhee is the contractor sales representative looking after this account.
In July, we will will furnish and move in for the summer vacation period. The septic field and well will be done in the fall meaning running water for 2006.
